Hardy Storage Systems / Hardy Imports, Inc.'s start comes more than 50 years ago.

In the late 1950's a twenty something William R. (Bill) Vargo would hit the road everyday selling at the front door of businesses throughout Cleveland, OH and the surrounding area.

Bill was a quick witted, hard working and tenacious salesman. If he found he couldn't get in the front door, he would try the back! In the early days Bill would sell by day, assemble that night and deliver the next morning, shelving, racks and office furniture. He worked hard and fast and before long had a long client list and positioned his company as a top distributor for companies like Republic Steel.

In the early 1960's Bill found himself hustling his way into so many doors that from humble beginnings he founded Cleveland Business Furniture. CBF quickly grew from the back of Bill's station wagon (with trailer in tow) into a company with dozens of employees, who were consulting, selling and installing the company to major concern in rack, shelving and office furniture. CBF was soon in a building downtown. Nearly 50 years later (although under different ownership) CBF still exist today.

While setting a blazing pace of growth, profit and innovation at CBF. Bill expanded into manufacturing. He founded Husky Storage Systems, Inc. Before long Bill moved Husky to a suburb in Atlanta, GA and began manufacturing on a large scale.

While at Husky Bill worked to build great brand name reconition and product, like the Invincible line of pallet rack. After years of innovation and invention at Husky Storage Systems, Inc. Bill was ready to move on again and sold Husky Storage Systems, Inc. to Wireway in the 1985.

Having traveled the world extensively from his twenties on, Bill was never one to sit still. He began his many journeys to the far east. Establishing relationships and sharing knowledge. After several visits Bill bought an apartment in Shanghai, PRC and moved there for serveral years. He manufactured and sold rack to burgeoning Chinese businesses. After establishing Hardy in China, Bill began exporting rack to the U.S., and was one of the very first to do so.

In 2006 Bill brought in long time friend Lee Tuck to partner with him at Hardy. Bill and Lee travelled to factories all over China to locate the highest quality manufacturers available.
